A Splurge Worthy Cooking Class - Parisian Style Submitted by: slyavey
21 rue Custine 75018 Paris

What to do for one's 25th wedding anniversary? Why one goes to Paris! Instead of doing the predictable lavish dinner to celebrate, we took an "Evening Market Cooking Class" with the Cook'n With Class school in Montmartre. We shopped as the locals visiting a frommage shop, the butcher, the fishmonger, the bakery and the produce stand. Extraodinarily insightful teacher Patrick taught us so much and then our small class democratically chose our menu after our market instructions. Luckily the class was taught in english. We ended up making oysters with a citrus hollandaise sauce, followed by pan fried duck breasts topped with a sweet onion relish, zucchini flan and vanilla mashed potatoes. After dinner we had a lovely cheese tray where we properly learned to cut the cheese. Finale...a chocolate lava cake. This is a must do if you want to live like the locals.
