They sell these EVERYWHERE in Portugal. They originated in Porto but we had this delicious one in Sintra. Francesinha can be different depending on where you go with a mixture of meat inside. It is usually eaten with a side of fries and if you get the ‘especial’ you will get it with a fried egg on top as well! The sauce is the key. It is a secret and varies from place to place having beer as its one common ingredient. It does have a hint of tomato flavouring. It is delicious but either get the 1/2 portion or make sure you share it because it is a heavy dish. Give it a try!
