Self-caught fish & oysters on a beautiful beach resort in Sierra Leone Submitted by: spearosOn a trip to Banana Island in Sierra Leone, we had the chance to sample our own catch of seafood. We set out on a small boat to the oyster reef. We had to be there at low tide, as the oysters would be exposed on the surface for a short time only. The beach resort (Daltons Banana Guesthouse) supplied us with the necessary instruments for the extraction of the oysters. When the bag was filled we headed back to the restaurant of the resort. On the way we put our fishing lines in for trolling and caught big mackerel and a jack. When we arrived at the restaurant we enjoyed delicious oysters followed by yellowfin jack sashimi and grilled mackerel for main. It was a seafood fiesta and all caught by ourselves a couple of hours earlier. A day to remember at beautiful Banana Island, Sierra Leone.
