A breakfast "cereal" resembling cornmeal or grits. Maize for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, baby! For most Malawians, that is all they can afford, which explains the staggering rates of micronutrient deficiencies and stunted growth. I have seen porridge made from finely ground corn and from a rougher mixture, and this was deliciously salty.
