While gingerbread is traditionally German, it has been fully adopted by Austrians to the extent that local variations have developed. The St. Wolfgang twist on it - stuffing gingerbread with a fig spread an decorating it with nuts, makes it a caloric bomb requiring a brisk bike ride around the lake asap.
