You may find different spellings for the Austrian response to gnocchi, but this is how you say it in the Pinzgauer valley. If not served in the hot pan in which they are prepared to order, then you don't have the real thing. Here it's seasoned with chives, but fried crispy onion might be more common, and a valuable counter-texture to the creaminess.
