The elusive chow mein sandwich, a RI/southeast Mass regional specialty with roots in the 1930s or ’40s as a cheap & filling meal, is alive & well at this charming waterfront spot, offered plain, with meat, or with market-price lobster on top. It’s a very weird, messy dish: the bun floats on top, almost as decoration since you can’t eat it as a sandwich. The sauce is brown & goopy; the crunchy noodles made in nearby Fall River, MA. The chicken tasted like good quality here, but overall this dish is best enjoyed by someone very hungry or very drunk. Definitely fun to try once though.
