Some of us have only seen this in a Stouffer’s box, but apparently it has military origins & is pretty common in Lancaster County (and elsewhere in the NE/mid-Atlantic area). Slivers of dried, salty beef are mixed with a flour-based cream sauce & served on toast with eggs or other breakfast fare (we asked for a side just to taste the stuff). Typical diner grub around here.
Ed.’s note: This restaurant has closed, but the dish is common at other diner-type places around town.
