Someone once told me Poi tasted like wallpaper paste, and although I haven't tried wallpaper paste, I can't imagine that is too far off. It was my first time trying the taro-root-based food, and maybe my last. I recommend trying a spoonful for the experience. Luckily the bowl came with a more appetizing taro-root roll which I dipped in the Poi.
