On expansive Playa Grande–one of the prettiest beaches on the DR’s north coast–find a stall or truck cooking local fish. It might be chillo (red snapper) or mero (grouper), with some rice, plantains & salad, and maybe you’ll wash it down w/a Presidente or a pina colada. You’ll eat it on a plastic table, your feet in the sand & your eyes on the sea. Is there anything better? No, not really.
