This yummy taste of “furu,” as they call it back in Mwanza. It was among my best trips, and I enjoyed it a lot. The locals appreciate the meal too, and they narrated to me how to make furu. So easy. Small sardine-like fish [haplochromines] from Lake Victoria are smoked fresh for about one to two days, and then fried. After that a lady (they called her Mama Mia) will prepare porridge, make some soup for the furu, and yep! It is ready to dig in. This was an experience I won’t forget. It’s taste memory.
