Unnamed window on the main square of Sidi Bou Said
Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia

It's not one of the sweets that you can just take a small bite of to try, and throw out the rest. They are sold pretty much on every corner around Tunis, but they are the very best when fried in front of you and dipped in coarse sugar when still very hot. If I wasn't on my way to also get a crepe, I might have gotten thirds or seconds. Cost: $0.25
