Buffalo and Beaten Rice

Submitted by hamsandwichindicted
Honacha
behind the Krishna Mandir Temple, Patan, Kathmandu, Nepal

Authentic Newari food--stir-fried, dried buffalo, beaten rice, lentil pancakes, and a few veggie dishes. Honacha is literally a hole-in-a-wall, accessed by a low ceilinged hallway behind a Krishna temple. Drying buffalo meat hangs from the ceiling, and the owners cook over fires on the floor. Simple, delicious, and completely local.
